Specifications include, but are not limited to: 3.1.1. Engage with a stakeholder task force within the local community and conduct regular meetings.; 3.1.2. Access the viability of a destination or project’s commitment to and resources for tourism growth as well as a community’s capability and capacity available to develop and implement a plan.; 3.1.3. Determine the appropriate state and federal agencies for collaboration for destination development projects.; 3.1.4. Conduct a visitor sentiment and vision survey for the local community.; 3.1.5. Evaluate strengths and weaknesses of the community by examining existing data and new information learned through stakeholder and visitor surveys.; 3.1.6. Establish recommendations for a shared vision and long-term tourism promotion strategy with an emphasis on responsible outdoor recreation.; 3.1.7. Identify gaps or new areas to focus on and recommend improvement of infrastructure and brand assets for increased awareness that the selected community and as an extension, the correspondent territory, is a leisure travel destination worthy of visiting. ; 3.1.8. Evaluate existing tourism and recreation assets and a visitor’s image of assets within a destination’s competitive set.; 3.1.9. Develop a ten-year destination vision report with recommendations for an on-going tourism promotion strategy and timeline of destination priorities and imperatives, including how the plan is implemented and funded.; 3.1.10. Include goals, milestone check-ins, S.M.A.R.T. performance measures and practical next steps to get to the desired outcomes. Identify a list of potential barriers to implementation.
