Specifications include, but are not limited to: Locations The detailed railbelt-wide-program shall be finalized with the successful Contractor. Contractor may be requested to provide the ARRC with planning assistance. The priority will be to remove the fouled ballast or mud spots that is most beneficial to the overall operation of the ARRC. Timing The ARRC wants to initiate and complete the rail-vac excavation program during the spring/summers of 2022-2026 as needed. It is the ARRC desire to begin work the 1st of May of 2022 and completed by mid-October of 2022 for year one. This would require the contractor’s equipment to arrive in Alaska by late April. Additional years would require similar time frames to be met. Methods/Machine Specifications A self-contained rail vac excavation machine that is rail mounted (not a vac-truck on a rail car). The rail-vac excavation machine must be self- propelled and capable of handling additional cars with travel speeds up to 25 mph. The machine must have a minimum, 15 yard storage capacity with conveyor system for waste material and the vacuum shall have flow rate of over 9,000 cfm. The Alaska Railroad Corporation prefers that the unit remain in Alaska for the duration of the contract.
