Specifications include, but are not limited to: Consultant services in the development and/or construction of transportation projects. The selected Consultant(s), hereinafter referred to as the Consultant, shall be responsible for performing specific services or tasks that include designating, locating, and other engineering assistance with regards to underground utility facilities. The Consultant shall provide all equipment, personnel and supplies to perform the aforementioned services assigned by VTrans. Subsurface utility engineering, hereinafter referred to as SUE, can be applied to varying degrees on a transportation project depending upon the situation. A project may include one or multiple utility quality levels depending on the risk factor associated with each subsurface utility facility. Subsurface utility data evaluation can be an important part of the project design, utility coordination and SUE process. The following sections provide basic issues to consider when determining what specific quality level to choose for a specific situation. The following items are not intended to be comprehensive or exclusive; they are merely set forth as a general outline of the work that is expected.
