Specifications include, but are not limited to: DDOC seeks proposals to provide training for crisis intervention among correctional officer staff within the DDOC. An increase of individuals requiring mental health services upon admission within the DDOC has resulted in law enforcement officers serving as first responders to most crises. The DDOC has identified the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program as an innovative, community-based approach to improve the outcomes of these encounters. In over 2,700 communities nationwide, CIT programs create connections between law enforcement, mental health providers, hospital emergency services and individuals with mental illness and their families. Through collaborative community partnerships and intensive training, CIT improves communication, identifies mental health resources for those in crisis and ensures officer and community safety. (National Alliance on Mental Illness). The purpose of the DDOC CIT program is to provide training for crisis intervention among correctional officer staff within the DDOC. Vendor shall arrange for the CIT training to take place offsite at a nearby location. Virtual training will not be considered acceptable.
