Specifications include, but are not limited to: SPECIFICATIONS FOR WORK: CHIP SEAL PORTION, MILEPOST: 0.0 - 12.1 Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, incidentals, and traffic control necessary to produce, haul, place, roll and broom approximately 182,424 square yards of laid-in-place chip seal. The chip seal will be approximately 12.1 miles long and 26 feet wide. Contractor shall provide CRS-2P asphalt emulsion and Type 1 chips. Traffic control with pilot cars must be maintained until dusk or fading light each workday as determined by the Project Manager. Contractor must provide enough pilot cars to keep traffic stops to a maximum of 15 minutes. The emulsion application rate for chip seals is estimated at.41 gallons per square yard. The cover material application rate is estimated at 25 pounds per square yard. Actual application rates will be based on the chip design and the actual field adjustments. If the cover material application rate of 25 pounds per square yard is not sufficient to provide a quality job, the Project Managers will jointly determine what the new application rate should be. Contractor must furnish a water truck for dust control and wetting of chips. Arrangements must be made by the Contractor for acquiring water for wetting and sweeping. It will be the responsibility of the Contractor to determine the centerline and place reflective tabs prior to the chip seal. Immediately after sweeping Contractor shall provide CSS-1H asphalt emulsion diluted at a ratio of 60% oil and 40% water diluted at the supplier. Apply the fog seal at an estimated application rate of 0.15 gallons per square yard using a #4 nozzle.; SPECIFICATIONS FOR WORK: Scrub/Fog Seal portion, Milepost: 12.1 - 18.7 Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, incidentals, and traffic control necessary to produce, haul, place, roll and broom approximately 100,672 square yards of laid-in-place scrub seal. The scrub seal will be approximately 6.6 miles long and 26 feet wide. Contractor shall provide PMRE (Polymer Modified rejuvenating Emulsion) and Type 1 chips. Traffic control with pilot cars must be maintained until dusk or fading light each workday as determined by the Project Manager. Contractor must provide enough pilot cars to keep traffic stops to a maximum of 15 minutes. Prior to emulsion application, Contractor must ensure roadway is clean and free of debris. All cracks must be dry and blown free of debris to allow emulsion to adhere to the existing crack walls. The emulsion application rate for scrub seals is estimated at .45 gallons per square yard. Following application of the emulsion, use a scrub broom to force the emulsion into the existing surface. The cover material application rate is estimated at 25 pounds per square yard. Actual application rates will be based on the scrub design and the actual field adjustments. If the cover material application rate of 25 pounds per square yard is not sufficient to provide a quality job, the Project Managers will jointly determine what the new application rate should be. Apply the fog seal at an estimated application rate of 0.15 gallons per square yard using a #4 nozzle. If the application rate is not sufficient to provide a quality job, the Project Managers will jointly determine what the new application rate should be. All traffic must be kept off the fog seal until it has cured sufficiently to prevent traffic from tracking the emulsion as determined by the Project Manager. This time is estimated to be approximately 45 to 60 minutes.
