Specifications include, but are not limited to: Social Venture Partners Dallas (“SVP”) is proposing the development of the Dallas Center for Arts & Technology (“DCAT”) at the Site. The City of Dallas and SVP have ratified their agreement for the development of the DCAT building through a Letter of Intent (“LOI”) (Exhibit 4). DCAT is a replication of the Manchester Bidwell Education Model that was established in Pittsburgh in 1968 and has grown to become a nationally recognized model for disrupting poverty. To date, it has been successfully replicated in eleven cities across the nation. The National Center for Arts & Technology (NCAT) was established as a division of the Manchester Bidwell Corporation, to support communities that seek to replicate the Manchester Bidwell model. SVP serves as the fiscal sponsor and is incubating the DCAT replication in Dallas. DCAT’s goal will be to uplift the neighborhood while simultaneously embracing the culture and values of the communities that live there by implementing the following strategies: Open up the door to opportunity for a community that has fought poverty for generations. Impact high school students through the creative, visual, digital and musical arts every day after school. Work with the adult population training them in real skills for in-demand careers that offer a living wage on graduation. Expand opportunities for women to re-enter and thrive in the workforce
