Specifications include, but are not limited to: BPRW is seeking services from a qualified consultant, or team of consultants, to develop a Comprehensive Plan for Leddy Park. BPRW, in collaboration with SE Group, held an Open House at Leddy Park in 2019 to gather input on prioritizing amenities within the park. With several needed improvements highlighted through that process, as well as internal insight into uses of the park, BPRW has determined that a Comprehensive Plan will provide the strategic roadmap needed to guide the future of Leddy Park. Launching from the information gathered from the Open House and provided by BPRW staff, the Leddy Park Comprehensive Plan will identify how to connect the diverse uses on the site, prioritize opportunities for environmental resource management, and determine what infrastructure is needed to support visitors. The selected consultant will provide the City with professional services highlighting the site’s limitations, possibilities and the interconnections between its existing and future amenities, connections to the Greenway and North Avenue, and steps to future implementation. Planned additions to Leddy Park in 2022 include: the construction of a fitness station and a Pause Place that were part of the larger bike path rehabilitation vision as well as a stormwater bioretention area as part of the bike path stormwater permit. Other amenities that are anticipated in the future include: a mountain bike park, a picnic pavilion, a new playground, replacing the squash courts with dedicated pickleball courts, expansion of the maintenance building and trail improvements. The bike park design is anticipated to occur in concurrence with the comprehensive plan process and communication between the design teams is expected.
