In order to improve student performance and classroom instruction, LISD has determined that we need to improve teacher capacity and address all student populations with an emphasis on techniques that assist the English language learners. The purpose of the training is to Address the importance of instructional pacing to close the achievement gap The use of instructional strategies that will improve student performance Train teachers to create optimal instructional environments that maximize student performance Maximize classroom environments, instructional schedules and how to run an highly effective classroom Train teachers on instructional strategies designed to promote student cooperation Focus on teaching practices that improve communication in the classroom Training on strategies that promote student interaction and boost student self-confidence and create interest in classroom interaction Training on cooperative learning that promote student interdependence as well as individual student accountability Instructional strategies that facilitate learning and engage students Instructional strategies that increases student time on task Training for teachers is needed in grades PK-12 to provide excellent key points, strategies and activities that will improve student achievement in all content areas resulting in rigorous and relevant teaching and learning.
