Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department of Mental Health is looking for an individual or group to be the lead evaluator of a newly awarded 5-year grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) entitled “Pediatric Mental Health Care Access – New Area Expansion.”1 The main purpose of the Vermont Pediatric Mental Health Care Access (PMHCA) grant is to coordinate and expand the state’s efforts to deliver timely and high quality mental health care to youth within the primary care setting. The grant will help create a new Center for Pediatric Integrated Care (CPIC) that will be a partnership with staff from DMH, Vermont Department of Health Maternal Child Health division, the Vermont Child Health Improvement Program, and the Community Health Center of Burlington. CPIC would serve as a statewide resource for integrated care (IC) projects across Vermont and be involved in a number of projects that include the following: 1) expanding the current IC capacity by implementing a child psychiatry access program (CPAP) that will provide rapid access for enrolled primary care providers to a clinical therapist/care coordinator and child and adolescent psychiatrists for clinical and referral questions using telehealth, email, and telephone-based consultation; 2) providing mental health educational programs to the primary care community regarding best mental health care practices; 3) creating and distributing clinical and electronic referral resources to participating practices and other materials regarding general mental health promotion as well as assessment and treatment of commonly presenting mental health problems in youth; 4) providing training, consultation, and resources to mental health clinicians working in primary care practices on effective IC practices; and 6) identifying and advocating for long-term sustainability of IC practices.
