Specifications include, but are not limited to: a. A structural assessment of (8) fire towers located on land owned and managed by the Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation. The structural assessment will include but not be limited to the following: 1. Tower Stability. Determination of the stability of the tower structure. The tower structures will be measured for plumbness and stability. This item will include the determination of the need for cabled anchoring or other actions to ensure stability of the structure. It is our understanding that when the fire towers were being used for fire detection they were outfitted with cabled tethers. Several locations show remnants of cable anchoring points. The contractor will determine if cable anchors are needed for the long-term functioning of the fire tower structures for recreation use. It has been noted that the Aremotors LS-40 design is identified as a freestanding structure. If it is determined that cable anchors should be installed the contractor will provide FPR with details of the hardware that should be used, a description of the process for installation and a per tower cost estimate for all required hardware. Because this item may not require additional services beyond the determination that the cable anchors are not needed, it should be included in the bid as a contingency cost. 2. Structural Members. Evaluation of all structural members. Recommendations will be made to correct any issues found with structural members. 3. Hardware and Components. Evaluation of hardware and components. All bolts, rivets, screws and associated hardware and components will be evaluated for condition and presence. Recommendations will be made for any needed replacements or missing hardware and components. Locations and hardware/component details will be specifically identified to support quick remediation. 4. Foundation and Footings. All concrete foundations and metal footings. Concrete pads and footings will be evaluated for condition. If concrete is found to be compromised recommended actions will be described containing specifications for materials and detail for remediation strategy or additional testing containing specific location information. If additional testing is recommended contractor will provide a general estimate for associated costs.
