Specifications include, but are not limited to: Units must have the following characteristics:2.2.1Manufactured by a known, reputable, established manufacturer of air purifiers2.2.2Energy Star rating is preferred2.2.3 True-HEPA-rated (High Efficiency Particulate Air filtration that can verifiably capture99.97% of airborne particles sized 0.3 micron or larger) (“HEPA-type” that is not formally HEPA-rated is NOT acceptable)To underscore the utmost seriousness of this, the State reserves the right to wholly disregard ALL items bid from any bidder who either bids any non-true-HEPA-rated unit, or who in any regard misrepresents whether a unit is true-HEPA-rated.2.2.4Not include ultraviolet, ozone, or photochemical/photocatalytic oxidation-based technologies 2.2.5Not include ionization, or, if it includes ionization, includes the ability to readily disable ionization. All air purifiers that include ionization technologies must be Energy-Star rated and/or certified for use by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
