Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Great Streets Initiative culminates several years of community planning efforts that have confirmed broad agreement for a well-designed, multi-use, multi-modal downtown street network that is linked to a more vibrant and inviting public realm at the heart of the City. Efforts began with the 2011 adoption of the Downtown Tax Increment Finance (TIF) Plan, which called for public street and parking improvements to incent downtown investment. The vision of a livable, walkable city was further advanced through the adoption Great Streets – Burlington Downtown Street Standards and the construction of the City’s first Great Street, St. Paul Street from Main Street to Maple Street. The project team shall demonstrate well-rounded expertise in, but not limited to, the following disciplines: Urban design and landscape architecture Mixed-use, multi-modal street, and intersection design Urban bicycle and pedestrian facility engineering and design Civil, traffic and structural engineering Water, wastewater, and stormwater engineering, including design of stormwater/wet-weather retrofits with an emphasis on volume reduction or peak mitigation Underground and aboveground utility design (including lighting, electrical, mechanical, telecom and water). The consultant shall be knowledgeable about lighting design, but street lighting layout and engineering will fall under the responsibility of the Burlington Electric Department.
