The Center for Court Innovation publication, Developing a Statewide Drug Court Data Tracking System: The Why, What, & How of It (https://www.courtinnovation.org/sites/default/files/documents/drugcourtdatasyst em.pdf , pp1-2), recommends that a statewide drug court data tracking system collect data elements that can help program managers and an independent evaluation consultant hired by the Judiciary to answer these questions: 1. Is the drug court meeting its volume projections (screened, assessed, enrolled)? 2. What is the profile of a participant (characteristics, profile mirror population, equity, and inclusion)? 3. What is the course of treatment and recovery that brings about the positive results (relapse, length to become drug free, warning signs of failure)? 4. What are the core outcomes (number of graduations, graduation rate, time in the program? 5. What are the characteristics of the participants who succeed (drug use, treatment, criminal histories, demographics)? 6. What are the practice and policy implications at the program/regional level, for each type of treatment docket, and at the state level?
