Specifications include, but are not limited to: •A statement from a veterinarian, from the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources, or from the conservation department of the state from which the pheasants are imported certifying thatthey are from flocks that have tested negative for pullorum and typhoid and show no evidence of WNV, tuberculosis, other infectious and contagious disease and unreasonable fecal parasite load for a period of 6 months prior to delivery. It is also required to submit a record of all medicines and vaccines administered to birds.Written documentation of above must be provided prior to delivery.•It is preferred that all birds be from a single source.•All birds must be fully feathered and tail feathers must average at least 8” in length.•Sex ratio must comprise at least 50% males.•All birds must be strong flyers.•All dead/injured/missing birds must be replaced by provider, at no additional cost, prior to final release of season.•Males are not to weigh less than 2.5 lbs., while females are not to weigh less than 2.0 lbs.•Transport crates must be new or properly disinfected since lastbeing occupied by birds.•Intact beaks are much preferred, though if clipped, the difference between the upper and lower mandible must not exceed 3/16”.•It is preferred that birds not be tagged or marked in any way upon delivery.•MDIFW staff reserves the rightto reject any birds not meeting the above criteria.•MDIFW staff reserves the right to inspect the provider’s facility.
