Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS While pe rfor ming the services and duties required under the contract, the Contractor agrees to compl y with and observe all the prov isions of the Califor nia Vehicle Code and all other applicable laws, and fur ther agrees to compl y with all rules and regul ations established by the State Board of Edu cation of Califor ni a, the Department of Education of the State of Califor nia, Federal, State and County Regul ations, other State agencies (i.e. AQMD), City of Pasadena and the County of Los Ang eles and the District relating to the transportation of Pupils. All bu ses to be used in service he reunder shall be app rov ed pr ior to commencement of service by Aut horized representatives of California Highway Patrol and the Transportation Scheduling Coordinator; and shall at all times during the con tract pe riod compl y in all respects with the pertine nt prov isions of the Calif ornia Vehicle Code, regul ation s of the City of Pasadena and the Coun ty of Los Ang eles. 2. CHP RATING The Con tractor shall, prior to the start of each school year, furnish the District with the then current Califor nia Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Section rating and will further advise the District immediately of any change in rating whi ch may occur during the school year. 3. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSAll new and all pre-qualified us ed bu ses of the successful bi dd er shall be equipped with Global Position ing Satellite (GPS) devices and access to selected live and historical da ta and reports will be pr ov ide d to the District before commencement of service under the contract. The pr actice of u sing mechanical t achograph charts w ill no longer be a ccepted. With the exception of w heel chair buses NO front eng ine bu ses will b e accept ed 4. AGE OF EQUIPMENT All buses shall not be older than seven (7) years at any time during the term of the contract. An exception to this requirement may be granted by the District, but in nocase may pr e- 1977 buses be pe rmitted. App rov al in writing must be received by the District prior to assignment of said bu ses. All buses must meet the age crite ria in or de r to be acceptable for use under this agreement. All buses shall be properly certified by the Califor nia Highway Patrol as a school bus and meet all requirements of the California Code of Regul ations and the California Vehicle Cod e. New Buses: If the Bidder pr op oses to fur nish new buses, he shall attach to his bi d: Evidence tha t he has such equipment in his immediate po ssession, or a letter from the manufacturer or hi s aut ho rized representative giving a defini te commitment that the buses will be pr ov ided for service on or befor e Jul y 1, 2021.A set of Chassis and Body Specification s furnished by the manufactur er of each bus shall be fur nished to the District for all n ew buses under this contract. Used buses:If the Bidder pr oposes to fur ni sh us ed buses he shall no te such vehicles in the Proposed School Bus Invent ory and Prop erty Summary Form. After District Transpor tation personnel inspects the bu ses, the District shall provide to the Con tractor a lis t ind icating approv al or non-approv al of the respective bu ses. On notice from the District, the Bidder shall arrange to have the used buses at a designated site and have on the site at the time of inspection a mechanic and a qualified dr iver. The bi dder may be required to furnish to the Director of Facilities, Maintenance, Operations & Transportation the maint enance records of any or a ll o f t he bu ses.Any costs incurred by a Bidder or any injury, damage or los s suffered by Bidder, his personnel, bu ses or other equipment, as a result of the inspection pr ocedure and requirements, shall be the sole responsibility of the Bidder, and Bidder shall indemnify and hold harmless the District and its officers and agents from any such loss.5. REQUIRED MODIFICATION OF EQUIPMENT The Con tractor shall make any ins tallation or modification of equ ipment required by a change in law or regul ation and the District shall be no tified of such wor k. The costs of such required ins tallations or modifications shall be borne by the Contractor and shall be sc heduled in a manner tha t will no t i nt erfere with service to the District.
