Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Montana Department of Justice (DOJ), Forensic Sciences Division (FSD) operates laboratory facilities in Missoula and Billings. The support generated by FSD not only includes important surveillance data generated by the numerous high quality diagnostic and analytical laboratory test methods but also in the form of certification programs and training provided by highly educated laboratory staff. The FSD is seeking information for a comprehensive laboratory information management system (LIMS) to manage approximately 25,000 items of evidence per year. The LIMS should be a web–based laboratory information management system with features that support modern laboratory operations. Key features should include, but are not limited to: capability for submission of demographic and test ordering, workflow and data tracking support, flexible architecture, laboratory supply inventory management and data exchange interfaces, which fully support its use in regulated environments. The features and uses of the LIMS should have functions starting from simple sample tracking to an enterprise resource planning tool that manages multiple aspects of laboratory informatics. The LIMS functionality should not only include sample management but also include, assay data management, data mining, data analysis, and electronic data transfer for exporting and importing of laboratory data.
