Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Serve as patient advocate in the EMS system 2. Set andensure compliancewith patient care standardsincludingcommunications standards, and dispatch and medical protocols 3. Develop and implement protocols, guidelines and/orstanding orders under which the pre-hospital care provider functions in conjunction with SLFE 4. Develop and implement the process for the provisions of concurrent medical direction 5. Ensure the appropriateness of initial qualifications of pre-hospital personnel involved in patient care and dispatch 6. Ensure the qualifications of pre-hospital personnel involved in patient care and dispatch are maintained on an ongoing basisthrough education, testing and annual credentialing 7. Developandimplement aneffectivequalityimprovement programfor continuoussystem and patient care improvement. Promote EMS research and evidence based quality improvement- Coordinating with the Fire-EMS Department Leadership to identify educational needs through the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process. 8. Maintain liaison with the medical community including, but not limited to, hospitals, emergency departments, physicians, pre-hospital providers and nurses 9. Interact with national, regional,state, and local EMS authoritiesto ensure thatstandards, needs and requirements are met and resource utilization is optimized-SETRAC, GMAT, EMTF 10. Arrange for coordination of activitiessuch asmutual aid, disaster planning and management, and hazardous materialsresponse 11. Maintain knowledge levels appropriate for an EMS medical director through continued education 12. Work with the SLFE to create a tiered credentialing system 13. Participate in the development and implementation of a mobile community healthcare program (Community Paramedics).
