Specifications include, but are not limited to: •Using a crane, lift the spire and the second square stage of the tower off the first stageand lowerto the ground for repair. A temporary roof covering should be installed to protect the open tower while repairs are underway.•Scaffold the second stage of the tower and spire from the ground, dismantling the roof and uncovering the spire to assess and repair the underlying structure.•Make structure/timber frame repairs to the spire timbers as needed with new full-size timbers matching the existing conditions. This includes dropping a new 25’ timber mast to improve the structural stability of the spire and provide a solid anchor for the existing weathervane.•Remove the metal roof at the base of the spire and replace any rotted plates at the second stage of the tower with new 8x8x7 timbers to match existing.•Replace the metal roofs at the base and apex of the spire with new flat-seamed copper or lead or zinc-coated copper, adding new wooden wedges below the new roof surface to ensure a positive roof slope.
