Specifications include, but are not limited to: The DEC is seeking proposals for an awardee to collaborate with DEC and selected municipalities (no more than 5) to obtain representative samples of wastewater from strategic locations in municipal collection systems (sewers, pump stations) and at WWTFs (influent, effluent, sludge storage) and analyze samples for PFAS over the study period. Once specific sample locations are determined, the awardee will conduct multiple grab sampling events at repeat locations throughout the study period. This work is intended to address remaining questions regarding the contribution of industrial, commercial, and residential sources to concentrations of PFAS in WWTFs and in potential discharge to the environment from. This work has developed from a performance partnership grant awarded to DEC by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with project completion by September 30, 2021.
