Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.1.1.1.Planning for siding and window repairs is necessary at the Birthplace. The architect should provide elevations and a schematic design outline specification for this work and no further design stages. The work is not currently funded for construction. 1.1.1.2.The Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) and DHP would like existing conditions exterior elevations, floor plans, and a roof plan to be developed of the full Cilley General Store and Coolidge Birthplace. These should be provided with room labels and general site information as well as materials labeled in elevations.1.1.1.3.A ground level shed roof enclosing exterior ductwork is to be removed and replaced with a smaller insulated enclosure.1.1.2. Seven brick chimneys require reconstruction and/or repairs and capping at four buildings. All repairs are exterior.1.1.2.1.Two chimneys are at the Homestead (56 Messer Road) and are no longer in use. One chimney needs to be rebuilt at the top and both chimneys need the precast caps checked and repointed. T he kitchen chimney was last flashed and capped in 1982. 1.1.2.2.Two chimneys are at the Cilley General Store (operating as a post office at 236 Coolidge Memorial Road) and the operable central chimney is leaking (plaster repairs are not included in this RFP) and last had repairs made in 1981. The other chimney is not used, but needs to be repointed, at minimum. 1.1.2.3.One chimney is at the Coolidge Birthplace connected to the post office and is no longer in use. This chimney needs some rebuilding above the roofline. 1.1.2.4.One chimney is located at the Wilder House (16 Messer Road). This chimney was added externally in the 1950s and is operable. The precast details need rebuilding and repointing the entire height. The chimney work will include flashing and repair of adjacent rot. 1.1.2.5.One chimney is located at the Aldrich House. This center ridge chimney needs repointingand rebuilding above the roof as necessary.1.1.3. The Wilder Barn was reconstructed in 2003. Rotten wood in contact with the soil and portions of the sill require replacement. Hidden conditions and the extent of repairs are to be determined with the design team. Additional selective demolition is to be arranged by BGS. Drawing A2 included with this RFP shows the door affected on the West Elevation facing Coolidge Memorial Road.
