Specifications include, but are not limited to: Part A. -Road ReconstructionThis Workmay include(but is not limited to): preparatory survey work; removal of stumps and other obstructions; excavation; furnishing and installing base course materials; furnishing and installing hot bituminous pavement; reclaimed stabilized base-processedin place; furnishing and installing storm drains, culverts, and underdrainpiping; furnishing and installing guardrail; furnishing and installing bituminous or granite curbing; maintenance of traffic;erosion control measures; installation of loam and seed;installation of pavement markings; tree work both trimming and removal; ditching; and miscellaneous work and clean up. Thefull extent of theWorkis more specifically shown and described in the bid schedule.Part B.–Roadway mill and fillLowering andraising any drainage structures, milling asphalt pavement at locations, depths(average 2”), widths and typical sections as directed by the Amherst Director of Public Works. The work shall include removing, transporting, and disposing of the milling material: and cleaning the milled pavement surface. The milled material shall become the property of and disposed bythe Contractor inareas provided by him/her.Theexisting pavement shall be milled(reduced) approximately two (2) inches following existing grade and be capable of leaving a uniform surface suitable for handling traffic without excessive damage to the underlying pavement structure. The milled pavement surface shall be thoroughly cleaned of all loose aggregate particles, dust, and other objectionable material usingpower brooms, power blowers, power vacuums, or other means. Disposal or wasting of oversize piecesof pavement or loose aggregate material will not be permitted within the right of way.Any time delays (exceeding the same day) between milling andcoatingof asphalt, the contractor shall provide (and maintain) a fillet (approved by theDPW Director and/or his/herinspector) at each driveways and intersection. Part C. –RoadOverlayThe pavement surface shall be thoroughly cleanedof all loose aggregate particles, dust,leaves/debris (other organic material, etc.),and other objectionable materialusingpower brooms, power blowers, power vacuums, or other means.Ditching/sweepingof the road shoulderwhere it meets the asphaltmaybe necessary to establish a clean edge for the new asphalt to bond to.Tack coat shall be appliedto the existing road surface before installingatwo (2)-inchhot bituminous wearing course consistingof 1/2”aggregate.Shouldergravel shall be installedas necessaryto protect the newraised edge of asphalt.Roadstriping and other painted road surfaces shall be repaintedas directed by the DPW Director or his/herdesignee.
