Specifications include, but are not limited to: 2.1Task 1: The Consultant will provide a Facilitator with a social studies background to work with the State to select and facilitate a workgroup of up to 50 participants to revise the Social Studies content standards with three to five participants in each grade level K-8 and domainwhich refers to the subjects geography, history, government and economicsin grades 9-12. One of the participants for each grade level will serve as a table lead. The participants shall demonstrate best practices in using or engaging with content standards and/or other related professional experiences.2.1.1The participants must include:2.1.1.1SD K-12 educators who teach social studies content standards2.1.1.2School leaders, curriculum directors, or administrators 2.1.1.3Post-secondary institutions2.1.1.4Business/Industry/School Board/Parents 2.2Task 2: The Consultantwill work with the State to develop a process for the standards revision process. The Consultantwill complete the following deliverables:2.2.1Work with the State to understand the processes and goals for the 2021 meetings beginning in March 2021.2.2.2Review C3 Framework and current South Dakota social studies content standards and other SD DOE identified sources. The current South Dakota Social Studies Content Standards can be found attached herein as Exhibit B.2.2.3Conduct reviews of current research in Social Studies education and national and state work around Social Studies Standards2.2.4Develop presentations and facilitation processes for revision meetings2.2.5Develop a decision-making guide outlining a process on when to revise standards (structure and content)2.2.6Create a process guide for writing team to revise the standards, architecture and provide justifications.2.3Task 3: The Consultantwill work with the State to guide and facilitate the revision process.2.3.1The Consultantwill complete the following deliverables:2.3.1.1Facilitate writing team meetings to develop recommendations for revisions2.3.1.2Provide examples of other state standards architectures2.3.1.3Develop a recording tool to document revisions throughout the process 2.3.1.4Facilitate writing team in making changes to standards, architecture and providing justifications for recommendations2.3.1.5Create a report outlining the writing team recommendations2.3.1.6Develop process to ensure final revisions are recorded.
