Specifications include, but are not limited to: 2.1 Service Category A – Soft Ballistic Design and Prototyping, including tasks such as the following: • Design and provide samples of raw materials and/or end items related to soft ballistic applications. These include but are not limited to aramids, para-aramids, and UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene). End item products may be used in PPE, ammunition testing, specification refinements, or other applications. • Comply with the Berry Amendment as it relates to the design and production of soft ballistics end items and ballistic materials. 2.2 Service Category B – Hard Ballistic Design and Prototyping, including tasks such as the following: • Design and provide samples of raw materials and/or end items related to hard ballistic applications. These include but are not limited to Silicone Carbide, Boron Carbide, hybrid materials, steel and other types of metals. End item products may be used in PPE, ammunition testing, specification refinements, or other applications. • Comply with the Berry Amendment as it relates to the design and production of hard ballistics and ballistic materials. 2.3 Service Category C – Ballistic Integration and Sample Prototyping Services, including tasks such as the following: • Provide engineering expertise and integration services of two or more soft and/or hard ballistic materials to fit the needs of the effort including but not limited to adhesive sheets, film, glue, and autoclave work. • Comply with the Berry Amendment as it relates to ballistic material integration.
