Specifications include, but are not limited to: new construction, renovation of existing facilities, site modifications, and utility upgrades. New facilities will include state-of-the-art milking facilities, freestall barn for heifers and cows, and support spaces to support not only dairy production, but undergraduate dairy science student education, and faculty research. We anticipate that the new dairy research and training facility will house approximately 500 cows. The new facility should be internally and externally flexible to update equipment and model changes in herd management The new facility will be equipped with contemporary robotic and parallel parlor milking systems, robotic feeding systems, contemporary waste handling systems, and contemporary computerized herd management systems. The new facility will provide hands-on training for students, plus research and extension service relevant to the dairy industry.
