Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.Engage a Court Security Consultant to develop a plan fora statewide security program in anticipation of a full-time FTE beginning July 1, 2021.•The development of this plan should include identifying additional resources to include funding under the CARES Act, coordinating the security assessment of courthouses in the interim, begin outreach to local partners including the Sheriff’s Association, County Commissioners and County Officials, evaluating the court security grant program; identifying training programs and security manuals in order to start laying the framework for a position within the UJS that can focus on courthouse security. The consultant would also respond to emerging threats to security from the pandemic or civil disturbances occurring during the term of the contract. 2.Seek a full-time FTE for a Court Security Coordinator to create and implement the plan for improving courthouse and employee security.•The Committee recommends that the State Court Administrator’s Office hire a court security coordinator to build upon the work of the court security consultant. This position would review, analyze, and make specific recommendations related to courthouse security on a statewide basis. This would include creating a schedule for security assessments for all courthouses and then implementing the recommendations; spearheading uniform and consistent security training and planning in each judicial circuit; and identifying available funding sources.
