Specifications include, but are not limited to: The provider agency will hire and administrate two Independent Living Caseworkers. Direct supervision will be provided by the Independent Living Coordinator of Luzerne County Children and Youth Services. The role of the Program is to provide necessary support during the transitional phase for youth leaving placement to become independent, productive members of society. One Caseworker is responsible for the following: meet all new youth and orientate the youth to the program; complete necessary paperwork for each youth; assume lead over other staff in the execution of a weekly life skills group that teaches skills in the following areas: housing, education, financial planning, employment, health, community resources; coordinate life skills education for youth living out of the county. The other Caseworker is responsible for After Care, which includes: provide direct services to youth that have left care, are on their own and require additional support; manage the IL Apartment Program, which supports youth in their own apartments; assist in the Youth Advisory Board and the summer IL Retreat, with the CWTC.
