Specifications include, but are not limited to: The bridge is steel plate with concrete head and wing walls, 13’ 8” Span.Scope is to complete maintenance repairs on wing backfill erosion, swale reconstruction, guide rail antiskid removal, rip rap protection. The intent is to repair all erosion and direct drainage around the wing walls and off the bridge deck.•Contractor shall supply all labor and equipment to complete the work in a timely manner. Work shall be constructed as per applicable section of Penn DOT Pub 408 and RC DWG’s.•Contractor shall follow Penn DOT Pub. 213, Traffic Control Standards for all operations. No road closures.•Prior to start of work Contractor shall complete PA1 Call for Utility Locations.•Erosion Repair:o Contractor Note: There is no permit for equipment to dig in the waters of this stream; this is a maintenance operation. Contractor shall install and maintain all BMP’s.o Remove all trees and brush obstructing work.o Penn DOT 2A Far Left Wing backfill, compacted to Penn DOT Pub. 408 Specifications. o Approach roadway shoulders and swales shall be re-established, engineer will field mark beginning and end points. Graded to flow beyond the end of each bridge wing wall. Shoulder grading shall be a minimum of -4% and dip into a 1-foot deep grass lined U-shaped swales. Place 50-feet of straw matting at the lower end of each swale. A one inch drop off shall be established along the edge of pavement (EP), shoulder grade must carry into the one-foot-deep swale at a -4% grade from the EP edge drop of one inch, this includes removing and grading all soils under guide rails into the newly excavated swales. o Place R6 rip rap rock to armor the far-left wing wall without obstructing the stream. Rip rap shall be placed on Class I Geotextile. Geotextile must protect 2A backfill from migrating into the R6.o Seeding at a rate of 100 lbs/ac •E&S Controls: Contractor shall have recent training on BMP’s and shall install necessary filter controls when excavating and installing materials.
