Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification. Slippery Rock University (SRU) is seeking sole source approval for Dr. Ferguson to continue providing Physician/Medical Doctor for its’ students at the on-campus Student Health Services (SHS). Dr. Ferguson is currently contracted with SRU in response to an RFP process in which Dr. Ferguson was the only bidder. Further, Dr. Ferguson as a member of the Allegheny Health Network, has a clause in his AHN contract that authorizes him as an independent physician specifically for SRU, which allows him to continue in his role as SRU physician. Allegheny Health Network is the only medical center located in the Slippery Rock area. Other physicians within an hour drive of SRU are under contract with UPMC, AHN, or Independence Health, which prohibit physicians from entering into independent contracts as their own entity. Currently, SRU requires an independent physician for these services for their health center to ensure consistency of services vs. a rotating pool of physicians.
