The quantities stipulated in the Bid Proposal have been issued for the sole purpose of comparing bids. Actual quantities will be unique for each individual Work Order. The Contractor will be required to furnish, at the Geotechnical Unit Representative’s request, one or more of three (3) rig types to a maximum of four (4) rigs total, unless otherwise agreed upon, at any one time. The description of the rig types, as well as the maximum number that can be requested of each type, are listed below. All rigs must be fully equipped, operating and manned with a minimum full-time crew of two persons per rig, including one qualified driller and one helper (any additional personnel required to operate and maintain these drilling rigs will be at no additional cost to the Commission): • The first rig type (truck rig), maximum of two (2), must have the capability of producing 6,000 ft.-lbs. of torque, and capable of moving between holes under its own power. A conventional truck rig, trailer mounted rig drawn by a conventional truck, or rubber-tracked track rig or ATV rig is acceptable. • The second rig type (track rig), maximum of two (2), must be capable of producing 3,000 ft.-lbs. of torque, be capable of working in adverse terrain as well as on road surfaces, and capable of moving between holes under its own power. This rig type consists of tracked rigs and other type of rig (e.g. ATV rig) that meets the definition of a track rig. • The third rig type, maximum of two (2), must be a portable coring machine rig and capable of obtaining up to 10-inch diameter cores in bituminous and/or concrete material to a minimum depth of 3 feet (Mobilization will be considered a separate item from the other rig types)
