Thisspecification provides requirements to perform the testing of the Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) rails for internal flaws with ultrasonic testing equipment capable of recording the inspection results for future analysis. Testing is to be performed on rails within all PRT track forms (ballasted, direct fixated, embedded), inclusive of rail bridges, turnouts, miter rails and sliding expansion joints. Testing is to be performed in the following zones: (1) Zone 1: Main Line from South Hills Village Yard Limit to Allegheny Station. This includes three pocket tracks with associated crossovers (approximately 12.4 miles of double track). (2) Zone 2: Library Line from Washington Junction to Library End of Line Station Bumping Posts (approximately 5.0 miles of double track). (3) Zone 3: Arlington Line from South Hills Junction to the Panhandle Bridge including Arlington turnback (approximately 1.8 miles of double track). (4) Zone 4: Overbrook Line from Willow Station to South Hills Junction (approximately 5.0 miles of double track). (5) Zone 5: South Hills Village Outer Maintenance Loop from yard limit around the Car Storage Maintenance Area (CSMA) Building (approximately 1.1 miles of single track). (6) Zone 6: Penn Park Line from Steel Plaza Station to Penn Park Station (approximately 0.4 miles of double track).
