The Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC), a detachment of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, has a primary mission is responsible for the design, manufacture, and repair of propellers for the US Navy. NFPC utilizes various profiling machines in its operations. Unfortunately, the spindle motor of the SU10 profiling machine ceased to function. Given the unavailability of a new motor, NFPC located a used replacement motor and successfully integrated it into the machine. This replacement motor has also malfunctioned. To address this issue, our project office collaborated with NSWC-Carderock to conduct an open/ inspect on the original motor through the local Allen Bradley/Rockwell Distributor, Kendall Electric.
The scope of this work entails the vendor's responsibility to perform a comprehensive restoration on an Allen Bradley motor. Specifically, the 8720SM075S6SAS3 model (75KW/137 AMP, 750VDC, AC motor with SN60 encoder), as stated, but not limited to, section 3.0 of this SOW. The rebuild shall return the motor to its Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) operating specifications for the associated machine.
