The Department of Human Services seeks a qualified individual/non-profit agency to provide youth held in secure detention with Islamic Studies to better understand the history and culture of the Islamic religion and Muslim societies and perform the proper services to better support youth development while at the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center. This will include: 1. Provides and conducts Islamic services for the residents while at the detention center. 2. Prepares and arranges programs and activities; such as Quran studies on a weekly basis with various groups of residents. The studies will consist of reviewing what was read and communicate on how to apply the Quran to daily life. 3. Educate the population on Islamic History. 4. Implement small group sessions with residents to discuss ethical and moral problems, spiritual, family and social matters. 5. Offer support and counseling for residents dealing with personal relevant issues and able to communicate, with integrity, in the context of the other person's frame of reference, especially regarding issues of crisis, loss, grief, and other serious adjustments. 6. Iman will provide support to assist with mediation of residential conflicts. 7. Provide supportive services to youth through collaboration with internal and administrator staff that practice the Islamic faith to instill spiritual healing and self-care.
