The City of Philadelphia Department of Human Services’ Juvenile Justice Services Center is looking for a qualified vendor to deliver high-quality fresh fruit and vegetables for meals at the Juvenile Justice Services Center (JJSC). Following the City of Philadelphia “good food” purchasing initiative, the produce for this program should be healthy, sustainably produced using fair labor practices across the supply chain, and supportive of local businesses and the regional economy. The vendor must also have excellent customer service that simplifies the purchasing and payment process, and reporting capabilities to improve transparency through sales and supply chain reports. The Department’s objectives for this project are: ● Serve a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables as part of balanced, nutritious meals that meet the Philadelphia Nutrition Standards ● Develop a transparent supply chain in order to monitor goals related to local purchasing, sustainability, and fair labor practices ● Simplify departmental purchasing processes related to fresh fruits and vegetables, including ordering, invoicing, managing returns and credits, delivery, and reporting through vendor-supported technology and systems
