Event Title: The Epic Allegheny Odessey – “Paddling Through 250 Years of American History”; Event Window: July 26 – approx. August 8, 2026 (Contract begins in December 2025 and concludes September 30, 2026); Compensation: Not to exceed $20,000 (milestone-based); Location: Remote (home/office) with required site visits and on-site coordination during the event; Reports To: Event Committee Chair and Co-Chair; ORA seeks a dynamic and experienced Event Coordinator, or a coordination team, to plan and deliver a 10–12-day sojourn covering approximately 200 miles of the Allegheny River with a maximum of 100 participants. The Sojourn will highlight the river’s historical and cultural significance from Indigenous history and the French and Indian War to the Industrial Revolution, through today, and serve as a model framework for future Allegheny River sojourns. A volunteer committee will support outreach, logistics, fundraising, and community partnerships. The Oil Region Alliance seeks to contract with an event planner to organize this large event. A videographer/editor will be contracted to capture the event, including the reenactments, which can be shared for educational purposes. The commemorative book is anticipated to be created through the use of a contracted professional writer and publisher. The event is expected to take place from July 25, 2026, through August 9, 2026. Funding will be generated through grants, sponsorships, advertising, private monetary contributions, and in-kind donations.
