Specifications include, but are not limited to: An integrated Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP) to replace their current financial software (PIMS), as well as other various related software applications and shadow systems that support municipal operations throughout the various Borough departments. All network gear is Cisco Systems. The voice and data networks are separate physical CAT6 cabling from the server room to the users and converge at the Cisco 4507 Core Switch. The 4507 contains gigabit switch blades, redundant management blades, redundant power supplies and two 16-port fiber blades. The data network consists of 10 switches, some Cisco 3548s and some newer Cisco 3560Gs. The switches in the 4 data closets have fiber uplinks to the core. Most PCs in the building have a gigabit connection. - Internet access is provided via a leased 10MB pipe that is routed through redundant Cisco ASA 5510s. There are also redundant Cisco 2811 routers that handle the 20Mb fiber SONET ring connections to multiple remote sites, including the Borough Service Building. There is a DMZ running on a Cisco 2950. The DMZ hosts a web server and a Sendio Anti-Spam Email Gateway device. There are also private fiber connections from the Municipal Building to the four Borough parking garages to provide video, data and voice services. A fiber connection also exists between the Borough and Penn State University for Police Services access. - The wireless network is made up of a Cisco WLC-4400 Series with 5 802.11n access points. These devices control three separate wireless networks: one is a secure connection on the internal network for employees, the second is a secure connection for council members only, and the third is a publicly available network that is routed out to the internet via a standalone cable modem. The Borough’s computer network provides connectivity to numerous municipal buildings and facilities in the Centre Region. Some departments have presence in multiple buildings. The State College Borough Municipal Building is the core/center of the network.
