The District currently contracts its transportation program through ABC Transit, Inc. District personnel prepare the schedule and routing for Primary Transportation services to all District schools and major private schools served by the District’s transportation program. Likewise, Special Transportation for special education students, small private schools and special needs are scheduled and routed by District personnel. Auxiliary Transportation services, such as field trips, Student Activities, Athletics, shuttles, etc., are scheduled by District personnel in consultation with the transportation Contractor. Currently, the scheduling and routing is prepared utilizing VersaTrans transportation software (i.e. application based and not the Traversa web based product). The District’s transportation schedule, in general, consists of three to four runs per vehicle. This usually, but not always, consists of the following, presented sequentially: Morning: North Hills High School run; Middle School run; Elementary School run 1; Elementary School run 2. Afternoon: A North Hills High School run; Middle School run or a combined Middle School/Elementary School Run. A School run followed by an Elementary School run. Please see section IV for the main school runs. Private/Parochial runs vary depending upon the schedule of each individual school.
