The Montgomery County Workforce Development Board (MontcoWorks), appointed by the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, is responsible under the provisions of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014 with developing an effective workforce system in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania that meets the needs of current and future employers and career seekers. The MontcoWorks Youth Committee focuses on achieving this task by implementing strategies that are aimed at both in-school and out-of-school youth. The MontcoWorks Youth Committee provides expertise in youth policy and assists MontcoWorks in the following: • Developing and recommending local youth employment and training policy and practice; • Broadening the youth employment and training focus in the community to incorporate a youth development perspective; • Establishing linkages with other organizations serving youth in the local area; • Providing resources that take into account a range of issues that can have an impact on the success of youth in the labor market. Workforce development programs and services to be provided by the successful bidder of this request for proposal will focus primarily on meeting the career readiness needs of youth and young adults who are eligible for services funded by the TANF Youth Development Program (YDP) in Montgomery County.
