This Request For Proposal consists of supplying necessary buses and drivers to perform morning and afternoon pupil transportation services for the West Mifflin Area School District. This would be dedicated morning transportation from home to school and dedicated afternoon transportation from school to home. The District only operates full-day kindergarten. The District does not operate half-day kindergarten. In addition, daily special education routes are currently operated by the District, with destinations both within and outside the District’s boundaries. Under the provisions of Act 372, the School District provides transportation for resident students who attend non-public schools located within the District’s boundaries and up to 10 miles beyond. Although to be separately priced by vendor, activity runs and extracurricular activities, including field trips and scholastic athletic events, are part of pupil transportation services. It is noted, however, that these runs and activities will not be exclusive to the vendor. Regular transportation to and from school would be for approximately 182 student days for each of the school years of the contract. The Vendor will be responsible for all aspects of pupil transportation services. That is, the Vendor is expected to provide all vehicles, equipment, and personnel, with the exception of “on-board personal care aides;” such aides will be provided by the District.
