Specifications include, but are not limited to: A contract will be awarded with the requirement to provide snow removal equipment, specifically two (2) 18-foot x 46-inch Tow-Behind, High-Speed Sweeping Brooms with high velocity air blast system to be based at Harrisburg International Airport (HIA). These specifications describe High Speed Towed Runway Brooms & Airblast assembly manufactured expressly for airport runway sweeping & blowing. The complete assembly shall be ruggedly built of new material and suited for continuous work under the extreme conditions of snow, ice, and debris removal. The unit shall have the ability to be integrated with a chassis equipped with a high speed runway plow to produce a Multi-Tasking Snow Removal Vehicle. The Broom unit shall be integrated to operate with and be towed by a 2020 Navistar International 7600 chassis’s with dump body. The vehicle’s tow-hitch and pintle shall be modified as required to accept the broom unit pintle tow-hitch as part of the purchase pricing. Function controls, and monitors shall be mounted as part of an operator’s console or integrated into the existing operators’ console. Provisions shall be provided to start/stop the engine of the units, vary the brooms & airblast rotation speeds, adjust the broom heads & airblast directional angle, control the broom heads & airblast nozzle heights, and adjust the brooms pattern from inside the cab of the chassis. The equipment will start and perform normal operations at an ambient temperature of –40° F, and will be capable of sustained dry sweeping performance at 100° F. The brooms shall be of the trailer-mounted tow type having a demonstrated and manufacturer's certified snow/slush removal and broadcasting ability sufficient to produce clear pavement within the rated swath width at the rated speed. All swath widths will be measured when the brooms are inclined at an angle (up to a 35° maximum) from the transverse position. The equipment must be capable of broadcasting the snow discharge on either side of the unit. The entire snow sweeper assembly, including but not limited to the brooms, airblast, and engine, shall be equipped so as to allow full control of all normal operating functions and monitoring of essential parameters by single driver/operator using minimum controls mounted in the cab of the towing chassis. Contractor must provide all labor, supervision, transportation, equipment, materials, and specified warranties necessary to complete the project and as further specified in the contract documents. The work includes providing pre-delivery factory visit for the owner’s representative, training for the owner’s employees and a two year warranty or two (2) winter snow seasons, whichever is longer.
