This RFP is being issued in order to solicit proposals from one or more qualified firms to provide proxy voting services, proxy voting consulting, and social investment restrictions research to the Philadelphia Board of Pensions and Retirement (PBPR). The current proxy voting and restricted securities research service provider for PBPR is welcome to rebid. The services desired include, but are not limited to, 1) Proxy Policy Development – proxy voting guideline review and consulting services to assist PBPR with the review and refinement of PBPR’s proxy voting policy; 2) Proxy Research and Voting – proxy research, analysis, recommendation, and voting services; 3) Proxy Vote Reporting and 4) Sudan, Northern Ireland and Iran company research related to PBPR’s investment restrictions. 1. Proxy Voting Guideline Review and Development a. Propose and work with PBPR to optimize a proxy voting strategy that is consistent with fiduciary responsibilities and seeks to enhance long-term shareowner value. b. Review and discuss PBPR’s existing proxy voting policies and ascertain the appropriateness of the current policy for PBPR in the current and ongoing corporate governance landscape. c. Provide proxy guideline review services and recommend improvements to PBPR’s proxy policy as necessary. d. Provide updates and education to Trustees and Staff on relevant issues and other nonroutine matters that may arise from time to time.
