Specifications include, but are not limited to: When a snow event occurs, the Contractor will be responsible to provide services according to the following: Contractor will provide initial plowing and salting services when a snow or ice event occurs. The expectation would be that the parking lot would be plowed and/or salted, the sidewalks would be cleared and/or salted, which would include the ramp at the rear parking lot entrance, the plaza area by main entrance, and the two (2) sets of steps at entrances on the 11th street side of the building, prior to 6:00 AM ET so the areas are clear and safe for staff reporting at 7:00 AM ET. Contractor shall be notified by the Site Administrator, or DLI, UCSC Altoona designee, if services are needed at a lower accumulation, or if repeat daily services are requested, other than specified herein. Parking Lot/Driveway - Parking lot and driveway is approximately 23,500 sq. ft. Plowing and/or salting of the parking lot on non-business days, (Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays as listed below), may be approved if extraordinary conditions exist, such as excessive snowfall or ice accumulation. Contractor will be notified by the site administrator or designee if services are needed on a non-business day. Should Contractor provide repeat daily services without DLI, UCSC Altoona authorization, services may not be compensated. Sidewalks/Plaza/Stairs - Sidewalks are approximately 9,167 sq. ft. and include: plaza area and sidewalk around the perimeter of the building from the main entrance doors to the rear parking lot entrance ramp, behind the building along the 10th Avenue expressway, the two (2) sets of stairs and sidewalk along the building on 11th Street, and along the building and parking lot entrance on Green Avenue. Clearing of public sidewalks and/or applying blended ice melt on the public sidewalks around the Altoona UCSC building may be required during non-business days to comply with the Altoona City Ordinance No. 5343, Article IV, Section 633-19, which states snow and/or ice must be cleared at least 18 inches in width from sidewalks within 24 hours of the cessation of snowfall, sleet or freezing rain. If the snow and/or ice on a sidewalk has become so hard it cannot be removed without damage, sand or other non-corrosive, eco-friendly, blended ice melt, anti-skid materials shall be put on the sidewalks. UCSC Altoona may request services for the sidewalks only to be treated with non-corrosive, eco-friendly, blended ice melt, or anti-skid materials.
