BID GUARANTEE
Each Bid shall be accompanied by a Bid Guarantee in the amount of $208,500.00. The Guarantee shall be in the form of either a Bid Bond or Cashier’s Check payable to The School District of Palm Beach County. All Bidders must be licensed pursuant to Chapter 489 Florida Statutes. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a 100% Performance Bond. No Bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing for receipt of Bids for a period of 60 days. The Board or its designee reserves the right to waive minor technicalities and irregularities in all Bids.

The project scope includes but is not limited to: Re-roofing existing buildings 1-7 of Lake Shore Middle School, approximately 156,700 SF. The project will involve the removal of the existing roof to the existing metal deck (metal deck to remain). Contractor to provide a new roof system on top of the existing metal deck comprised of a minimum r-20 rigid insulation, 5/8” plywood sheathing, self-adhering ice & water shield, 30# felt double underlayment and fabric reinforced shingles (Basis of design: Tamko XT shingles or approved equivalent).
- Remove & replace roof over the existing metal roof deck w/ new shingle roof.
- Prepare existing deck for new roof (brush/clean apply anti-rust treatment as needed).
- Provide pressure treated wood furring around roof edges for raised height of roof insulation.
- Remove & replace all roofing metals such as drip edges, valley flashings, expansion joints, counter flashings, etc.
- Remove & replace all gutters w/ min. .040 Kynar finished alum. – approx. 3300 linear ft. total.
- Remove & replace all downspouts w/ min. .040 Kynar finished alum. – 102 downspouts, approx. 1020 linear ft. total.
- Paint & patch all stucco/EIFS (Exterior Insulation & Finish Systems) walls to match existing where ever affected by roofing work.
- Remove & replace all roof hatches in-kind & provide new safety rails – (3) locations.
- Remove & replace all goosenecks & gooseneck curbs – (32) locations.
- Remove & replace all unit ventilators & unit ventilator curbs – (8) locations.
- Temporary removal of all exhaust fans – remove & replace all exhaust fan curbs, re-install temporarily removed exhaust fans onto the new curbs – (5) locations.
- Provide hurricane tie-downs to all roof equipment.
- Re-route kitchen exhaust fan conduit through new roof penetration, provide new receptacle and support post @ kitchen exhaust fan – (1) location.
- Raise existing plumbing vents as necessary to be 8” min. above new roof finish.
- Reroute existing plumbing vents through new roof penetrations min. 10’ away from existing roof intakes (enclose roof decks @ existing penetrations, patch/paint/repairs ceilings & walls affected by the work) – (7) locations.
- Reroute existing flue vents through new roof penetrations min. 10’ away from existing roof intakes (enclose roof decks @ existing penetrations, patch/paint/repairs ceilings & walls affected by the work) – (1) location.
- Remove abandoned flue vent, provide roof deck enclosure – (1) location
- Provide new raised curb on roof for downspout attachment – (2) locations
- Existing buildings do not have lightning protection. Providing a new lightning protection system is not necessary
ADDITIONAL PROJECT INFORMATION:
- BALANCE OF LINE: The “balance of line” shall include products and services that are not requested in this. Invitation to Bid, but are within the scope of products and services available from the awardee(s). The School District reserves the right to add these products and services to the awarded items. Additions shall be submitted as they occur. Deletions and discontinued items shall be reported by bid awarded vendor as they occur. Refer to Additional Information Document.
- All materials should be based on the School District Specifications, which includes an approved equal.
- Any existing lightning protection equipment shall be removed and reinstalled. The reinstalled lightning protection system shall be re-certified in accordance with NFPA 780, UL 96A, and Design and Material Standards Section 26 41 00. Provide UL Master Label to the owner upon completion. Provide (Furnish and Install) extensions/increases, including but not limited to cabling, air terminals, down conductors, ground rods, surge protective devices at switchgear, etc. to the existing system for the re-installed system to work as a complete, operational system upon completion of the work.
- Security signage is not included in this bid, and shall not be included in the pricing.
- The Contractor shall be responsible for the repair or replacement, including but not limited to: all surfaces, building elements, fencing, utilities, onsite and offsite elements, sidewalks, grasses, plantings, irrigation, and hardscape disturbed by and/or damaged by construction activities.
- If required, the Contractor will remove and/or modify chain link fencing, including adding gate(s), as needed for site access. Openings in the fence shall be secured at the end of each workday. Fencing is to be restored to equal or better condition upon completion of the work.
- All work during the summer can be completed during the day or night per the SPA/ School approval. The schedule will still have to be worked out with the school as summer activities will be happening on-site. During the school year, work can be performed after the school day is completed but the schedule will have to be coordinated with school staff as there are activities at night. Holidays and weekends can be day or night work however, the Contractor will still need to coordinate with school staff & SPA as activities are sometimes scheduled during these times.
- All work shall be performed in accordance with the Florida Building Code 2023, Florida Building Code 2023 8th ed, District Master Specifications, 2023, and the ANSI/AWWA C210‐84.
- Clean‐up and disposal of all debris generated during the Project. Final inspection to ensure compliance with building codes, manufacturer specifications, and project requirements.
