Specifications include, but are not limited to: On the southbound (SB) side of I-5 from MP 182 – 178.4 (south of Creswell), Contractor shall remove a total of 84 small and 57 large trees in the specified areas in the table below. Trees will be marked by the ODOT maintenance crew prior to work. Small trees are defined as being less than 8” in diameter at the base and less than 30’ in height. Large trees are defined as being greater than 8” in base diameter AND less than 24” in base diameter and less than 30’ in height. All felled trees and chips/debris created by the tops, limbs, brush, and other slash must be removed, loaded, transported and disposed of by Contractor. Contractor may chip trees and branches on site and spread chips over the project area or completely remove chips and/or trees and branches from site. All stumps from cut trees must be cut within 0” to 4” of the ground in height, and must be cut at the same angle as the hillside they are growing on. All of the trees are located along the ODOT fence that delineates state right of way, thus far enough off the edge of pavement that there is no risk of falling trees onto the shoulder or highway. However, contractor must cut and fall trees in a way that does not damage or disturb electrical or utility lines or guardrail on the highway. Contractor will assume liability for damaging guardrail, or power lines, or any problems caused by the electrical disruption caused by felling of trees or by the Contractor’s equipment.
