The MCHD Public Health Division, Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion unit seeks a contractor who will develop a system to recruit, vet, and match qualified youth to Worksite opportunities. Contractor will manage a variety of youth employment programs for low-income youth aged 14-24 to develop workplace skills and build a work history through paid internships with local employers; Contractor will contract with one or more program operators (Operator) to implement these programs. Contractor will aim to increase youth internship opportunities by facilitating three critical activities: 1. Sourcing Qualified Youth. Contractor will contract with a network of local youth service providers to refer, train, and screen appropriate youth. 2. Aggregating Internship Opportunities. Contractor will manage outreach to private-, public-, and nonprofit- sector employers to identify work experience opportunities across the region. 3. Lowering Barriers to Participation. Contractor will have incorporated a full suite of supports into its program design, including job coaching, professional development, and employer-of-record services. Contractor will recognize that the goals of these youth employment programs are twofold: • Youth Impact. Enhance self-reliance and employability by assisting youth in the development of work and life skills. • Business Impact. Address real business needs while developing a diverse, skilled, homegrown talent pool and increasing employee engagement. All organizations involved with these programs agree with and support the overarching goals: • Provide a healthy and safe working environment. • Develop and teach good work habits, responsibilities, and skills. • Develop and teach specific technical skills, where appropriate. • Give care and attention to the personal development of each youth.
