The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife's Marine Resources section is soliciting bidsfor a Contractor to provide technical assistance to the Agency for conducting biologicalresearch on using a video lander to study fish populations on rocky reefs in the generalvicinity of Three arch Rocks, a large rocky reef about 7 miles south of the Tillamook Bayentrance.Ten single-day trips to Three Arch Rocks reef, and surrounding vicinity, will be conductedto deploy a video lander along established gridded locations to survey demersal fishpopulations. A video lander is a passive device for recording images on the seafloor afterdeployment from the surface. The video lander will be deployed to the seafloor, releasedand allowed to sit on the bottom for periods of 4-6 minutes and then be retrieved using ahydraulically-powered or electrically-powered crab-block, which is required for this work.The Contractor must have the knowledge of how and where to find rocky reef structure, theability to exercise sound judgment in conducting safe, efficient and effective samplingoperations and the ability to safely deploy and retrieve a video lander.
