The selected artist will: • Develop designs for all three locations based on the approved theme and safety guidelines. • Collaborate with project partners, if necessary, to refine designs for visibility and durability. (not to exceed two meetings) • Work alongside community volunteers to implement the designs on-site in two installation phases, ensuring the intersection remains partially open to traffic at all times. Theme & Design Guidelines: • Motifs: Inspired by, but not limited to, Oregon Coast themes—ocean, sea life, beach, fishing culture, and Pacific Northwest imagery. Other themes that might be appealing - community, neighbors, joy, plants, flowers, and wildlife • Color Use: Bright, highly visible colors to ensure pedestrian safety. Limit the number of colors used to facilitate future maintenance. • Safety Considerations: Must comply with applicable traffic safety guidelines; avoid patterns or colors that could cause driver confusion. Please refer to The Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways (11th Edition), pg. 622. Section 3H.03: Aesthetic Surface Treatments and pg. 639.
