Whole Effluent Toxicity Testing for Freshwater a. The permittee shall conduct whole effluent toxicity (WET) tests as specified here: i. Twice per winter acute tests for River Road WWTF effluent – Outfall 002A. b. Acute Toxicity Testing – Organisms and Protocols i. The permittee shall conduct 48-hour static renewal tests with Ceriodaphnia dubia (water flea) and Pimephales promelas (fathead minnow). ii. All test methods and procedures must be in accordance with Methods for Measuring the Acute Toxicity of Effluents and Receiving Waters to Freshwater and Marine Organisms, Fifth Edition, EPA -821-R-02-012, October 2002. Any deviation of the bioassay procedures outlined in this method must be submitted in writing to Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) for review and approval prior to use. iii. Treatments to the final effluent samples (for example, dechlorination), except those included as part of the methodology, may not be performed by the laboratory unless approved by DEQ prior to analysis. c. Quality Assurance and Reporting i. Quality assurance criteria, statistical analyses, and data reporting for the WET tests must be in accordance with the EPA documents states in this condition.
