The Phase I Demonstration Project (the “Project”) will construct improvements on SW Hall Boulevard between SW 3rd Street and SW 1st Street. Improvements will widen sidewalks, improve bicycle facilities and reconstruct the existing transit stop located at Hall Boulevard and SW 2nd Street. When complete, the Loop will connect key destinations Downtown like the Farmers Market, City Library, and planned Senior Housing to the Beaverton Transit Center and destinations north of Canyon Road. Project elements include: • Addition of rapid flashing beacons at the intersections to improve safety for people crossing • Widening sidewalks to improve the pedestrian experience while providing space for amenities like benches, trash cans, and potentially retail uses • Constructing a separate bicycle lane to improve safety for people biking • Access management, including closing driveways when possible to eliminate conflicts with the bicycle lane • Removing on-street parking between 1st and 2nd; and on the east side between 2nd and 3rd. • Addition of a flex zone on the west side of Hall Boulevard north of second street to accommodate short-term parking, loading/unloading, and other curbside uses
