Per the initial programming and conceptual planning work, the new MULTNOMAH COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES FACILITY is estimated to be in the range of 35,000 - 45,000 square feet. It is anticipated the facility will have at least two public entrances and lobbies and areas distinct to housing, adoptions services, intake, and animal care. There will be a medical suite and medical isolation areas for disease/infection control response. Supportive structures such as a warehouse, covered play/enrichment areas, and a livestock barn are being considered. The site will have parking for both public, staff, and volunteers. The building systems will be designed to support the intense processes of the animal services operation with enhanced sanitation, ventilation and circulation. The facility will align with the Association of Shelter Veterinarians’ (ASV) Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters. Future phases of this project will continue to define and refine the project scope. The Project shall meet or exceed all Multnomah County standards and policies pertaining to major construction projects. The site for this new facility is not yet determined.
