Specifications include, but are not limited to: General Information The Norman Public Schools (NPS) wide-area network (WAN) includes 25 instructional campuses totaling over 1120 classrooms plus 5 non-instructional sites. Our network includes almost 800 fully managed 24-port network switches (~80% Cisco Catalyst; ~20% Netgear ProSafe). We have approximately 400 wireless access points (WAPS) installed in the district with a fairly even split between Cisco (~25% autonomous; ~75% lightweight; 3 controllers) and Ubiquiti UniFi (1 controller). We currently have 1 Gbps connections between equipment rooms, 1 Gbps WAN connections at each site, and a 1 Gbps connection to the Internet located at the district network operations center (NOC). We are in the process of upgrading the WAN connection at two high schools to 2 Gbps, the WAN connection at the NOC to 10 Gbps, and the district Internet connection to 10 Gbps. (These service upgrades are not in the scope of this RFP but will influence the network equipment needed.) We have approximately 16,000 students and approximately 1,500 staff. We have approximately 6,000 district-owned Internet-capable devices including desktop computers, laptops, Chromebooks, and tablets. We do not restrict BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) for students, staff, or guests.
